Super Mario

Jesus, its quiet here today and there seems to be nobody to play
with, all off doing mother's day stuff,I suppose.Thats all right as
I often use Sundays to try and learn something new about the
poxy oul' computer.

I saw one of his films yesterday, what a set of pipes he had.
he was from before your time, and mine too,but me oul'
fella,no mean Tenor himself, had a great gra for oul' Mario and
we were all dragged up listening to him.Anyway, its my blog and
I'll post what I want.

I suppose if they ever made a film about me,Mario Lanza,Buddy

Holly,Elvis and Cream would figure greatly on the soundtrack.

See,I'm not always cranky, back in character tomorrow.

Bugger! I completely forgot about British mother's day! American mother's day isn't 'til May and, for events deemed cardworthy by Hallmark, I usually just wait til I see them in the shops to remind me. Damn, I'm ususally good at rememberign this kind of stuff. Thanks for reminding me Vaporise.

My Grandpa used to listen to Mario Lanza all the time until he died. And then he didn't so much. It has made a fond wee spot in my heart though for Mario Lanza. I know Elvis was great and all, but I could just never really get into him properly. For every great song, it seemed there were several clunkers to get through. Of course that was in the days before ipods and shuffling. Christ, I feel old. I'm only bloody 31!

So now, after reading your post, I feel crappy I forgot British mothers' day, I feel maudlin for my Grandpa and now old too. None of which I can actually blame on you. Off to make a pudding I have to take to a party, which, given the way things have gone so far this morning, will probably collapse in the middle causing everyone to realise that, ot only am I a terrible daughter, I'm a God-awful pudding maker too.

I remember watching the film Heavenly Creatures in it two girls imagine they live in this world with this singer.
they then killed one of the girls mother.
true story.

have you had murderous urges recently?

the anti-barney said...

No,not just recently,I've always had them.

Mario Lanza? Nope. No bells ringing. Now Buddy Holly, Elvis and Cream... that a different story! Throw in little Sweet, Kiss and Ramones and we got ourselves a salad!

Whats this, lyrics of the fuckin' damned?
Yis wouldn't have caught oul' Mario singing 'bout stuff like that, well you would but at least he'd have had the decency to do it in Italian or German.

And you see a girl's brown body dancing through the turquoise,
And her footprints make you follow where the sky loves the sea.
And when your fingers find her, she drowns you in her body,
Carving deep blue ripples in the tissues of your mind.

Double comment.

By gor, they don't write em like that no more. They had a Cream night on BBC4 a few weeks past, it had the Goodbye/farewell Cream concert at the Albert Hall, and the recent reunion concert 35 years after. Bloody brilliant.
